Galloway steer yealings

Galloway steer yealings

Meet our Galloway’s!

We introduced the Galloway breed to our herd in 2004. They are known for their quality of beef, their marbling within the meat makes the meat more tender and tastier. Galloway’s were first established in the rugged hills of Scotland but here in the Central Peace Country makes a perfect second home for them.

What makes us so different?

We provide nature intended green forage and dry hay diet for our cattle all year round. This means our cattle grow at their own individual capacity on natural forages.

Happy babies

What’s also quite unique at Forage Acre’s Beef is that we don’t force the weaning process. We leave the little calves with their mothers through their first winter, letting them naturally wean onto green pasture in the spring just prior to calving in June.

Strong winters, thick coats

Galloway cattle is one of the oldest and hardest breeds of compact animals. Their heavy winter coat makes them perfectly suited to our cold winters in Northern Alberta.

Having a holistic management meeting with our yearlings. Blue 26, make a motion to ask the Boss Soames that the beddings needs topping up with fresher straw. Orange 7, Agrees! and pointed out that they need more Hay as well! Meeting ends and everybody was happy!
